The Republican National Committee has allocated $7 million, or $3.5 million each, to the party's House and Senate campaign arms to help them fight back against a wave of heavy Democratic spending, according to a person with knowledge of the transfer.
The transfer means the RNC, which has been benefiting from President Donald Trump's fundraising efforts, has transferred the congressional committees almost $17 million, reports Politico.
House Republicans in particular have faced heavy spending from their Democratic challengers, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee outspending Republicans on TV ads by $65 million to $4 million.
In addition, according to The Hill, Democratic candidates raised $1.06 billion through the end of September, with GOP candidates raising $709 million.
Cory Bliss, the executive director of the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC associated with House Speaker Paul Ryan, said in a memo earlier this month that he's concerned about the extra spending, reports Real Clear Politics.
“Democratic candidates are outspending Republican candidates in key races by $50 million and the GOP is now facing a green wave, not a blue wave,” Bliss wrote in a memo.
