The Republican National Committee (RNC) is racing the clock to spend its swelled coffers in the final days of the campaign, the
Washington Times reported.
The RNC had $68 million on hand as of Oct. 17. That’s almost seven times more than what the Democratic National Committee had at the ready, according to the Times.
If cash from other presidential campaign committees is added in, Mitt Romney and his GOP allies tallied $156 million to $94 million for President Barack Obama and Democrats. Also, State Republican parties had 50 percent more cash on hand than Democrats.
While it’s better to be in a position of having more money to spend, it does present a challenge.
“I can guarantee you we will spend it all and wisely,” Reince Priebus, chairman of the RNC, told The Times.
The Romney campaign is using some of the money in states such as Pennsylvania, where the Republican nominee has closed the gap.
