"Scott, the sitting governor, gets positive marks from voters on his handling of the recent hurricane and benefits from Republicans reporting that they're more likely to vote than the Democrats who haven't already," CBS News reported.

Nelson's support is backed by those prioritize healthcare, according to the poll.

Republicans hold a narrow 51-49 majority in the Senate heading into the Nov. 6 midterm elections. Florida, Arizona, and Indiana are key Senate races to watch in determining the balance of power in the senior chamber of Congress.

The 2018 Battleground Tracker polled likely voters in Florida between Oct. 23-26 with a plus or minus 4 percent margin of error.
