Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan's comparison of Jewish people to "termites" shows that more work is needed to call out anti-Semitism and hate-filled speeches, U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell said Monday.
"The embassy is situated between the Brandenburg gate, which is a symbol of freedom, and a memorial to the six million Jews murdered in Europe," Grenell told Fox News' "Fox and Friends."
"So, I have a daily reminder, as I walked into this embassy, that a lot more work needs to be done . . . this is a daily reminder that more work needs to be done and we cannot sit back. We have to be vigilant."
Grenell also criticized New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for comments she had made claiming the fight against climate change must be made with the same urgency the United States used to combat Nazi Germany.
"It's never OK, it's never acceptable, to minimize the Holocaust, and the murder of 6 million Jews," he said. ". . . Nothing can be as horrific as 11 million people, six million Jews murdered."
Also on Monday, Grenell pushed aside talk he is under consideration by President Donald Trump to replace Nikki Haley as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
"I will give you the line everybody says but it is really true: 'It is a real pleasure to serve any president, this one in particular, it's a real honor,'" Grenell said. "Anyone who gets to be a part like me, a small part of the foreign policy team, sees that you are living history.
"That you're working for a president who actually does what he says. Whether it's kicking the Nazi out of New York City, or moving the embassy to Jerusalem – these are policies that multiple presidents have said they're going to do, but this president has done."
