Shurat HaDin, a Tel Aviv-based law center, is seeking to bar Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., from entering Israel over her support for boycotts of the nation, The Times of Israel is reporting.

The center said it asked the Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday to demand the Interior Minister’s office exercise its power to deny her entry when she arrives for an upcoming tour.

The newspaper noted Omar has introduced a bill championing the right of U.S. citizens to boycott foreign nations.

And it cited a 2017 Israel law that says the government can stop any foreigner from coming into the county who “knowingly issues a public call for boycotting Israel.”

But Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer told the Times last week, the government will not stop Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., from entering the country when they arrive in Israel this month. It noted both lawmakers have expressed support for a pro-Palestinian boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, known as BDS.

Israel will grant them entry “out of respect for the U.S. Congress and the great alliance between Israel and America,” Dermer said.

President Donald Trump has attacked Omar, Tlaib, along with two other progressive congresswomen, saying they “are a nightmare for America.”
