The Russian people’s trust in President Vladimir Putin has dropped 33.4 percent, a poll by the Russia’s Public Opinion Research Center reveals.
The poll results, detailed in a report by Al Jazeera, marked the lowest level for Putin since 2006. According to Al Jazeera the decrease comes amid a sluggish economic growth and a decline in disposable income.
And Reuters reported Putin’s public trust rating ended 2018 at 36.5 percent. However, he remained far more trusted than other Russian politicians, according to the poll.
Reuters noted his approval rating, which is different that his trust rating, stands at 60 percent.
Meanwhile, a survey by the Levada Center in Moscow in December revealed 53 percent of those responding to the poll disapprove on the Russian government, Al Jazeera reported.
"We know the Kremlin takes these figures incredibly seriously, so we should pay attention to them," Ben Noble, a Russian politics lecturer at University College London, told Al Jazeera.
The methodology of either survey was not provided in the reports.
