Fifty-eight percent of voters oppose shutting down the government again if President Donald Trump doesn’t get the funding to build a border wall, a Politico/Morning Consult poll reveals.

Only 31 percent favor another shutdown to force Congress to come up with the needed funds for the wall.

Here are the poll highlights:

  • 72 percent support the agreement to reopen the government, compared to 15 percent who oppose it.
  • 50 percent say they would blame Trump if the government does shut down again, 33 percent say they would blame congressional Democrats and 4 percent would blame Republicans in Congress.
  • 51 percent oppose Trump declaring a national emergency to build the wall, while 38 percent support it.
  • 42 percent say they trust the president and congressional Republicans on handling border security, while 36 percent say they trust Democratic lawmakers.
  • 55 percent of voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president, compared to 40 percent who approve.

The poll, conducted Jan. 25-27, surveyed 1,997 registered voters. The margin of error is 2 percentage points.
