Poll: 36 Percent Believe Mueller Report Clears Trump

Thirty-six percent of Americans believe special counsel Robert Mueller’s report clears President Donald Trump of any wrongdoing, while 56 percent say questions still exist, a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll reveals.

Nine percent say they are unsure.

Here are the highlights of the poll results released Friday:

  • 74 percent of Republicans say the report clears Trump, compared to 19 percent who say questions still exist.
  • 8 percent of Democrats say Mueller’s report clears Trump, while 86 percent say questions still exist.
  • 38 percent of independents say the report clears Trump, compared to 53 percent who say questions still exist.
  • 48 percent say the Democrats in Congress should hold further hearings to further investigate, while 45 percent said they should end their investigations.
  •  75 percent of all those polled say the full Mueller report should be made public, while 18 percent say Attorney General William Barr’s public summary is enough.
  • 51 percent say they are satisfied with Mueller’s investigation, compared to 31 percent who are not.
  • 38 percent have a favorable opinion of Mueller, while 25 percent had an unfavorable view of him. 37 percent said they were unsure.
  • 42 percent approve of the job Trump is doing as president, while 51 percent disapprove.

The poll, conduct March 25-27, surveyed 938 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
