Rep. Peter King says the United States should not stop drone attacks or other actions against terrorists after an
attack on a Pakistani school on Tuesday.
Appearing Tuesday on
CNN's "The Situation Room," the New York Republican brushed aside suggestions that the United States is antagonizing radical groups such as the Pakistani Taliban, which took responsibility for the attack that killed 126 people, mostly children.
"It shows we're having an impact on them," King said.
Besides, he said, the only use of U.S. military force in the 1990s was to defend Muslims in Kosovo and Bosnia, "and the response we got to that was the attack on the USS Cole and the attack on 9/11."
The fact that the Pakistani group was willing to lose support from the Afghan Taliban to attack the school shows the Pakistani government and U.S. drone attacks have been effective, King said.
"But now they have to keep it up" and not shrink back for fear of reprisals, he said. "They hate us no matter what we do."
