The Defense Department Inspector General has launched a probe into Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson in the aftermath of misconduct allegations that sunk his candidacy to run the department of Veterans Affairs, The Wall Street Journal is reporting.

The Pentagon did not provide details as to which allegations would be investigated, the Journal reports. However, a bevy of allegations came out in recent weeks that ultimately led to Jackson, White House physician to three presidents, to withdraw his name:

  • Drinking to excess on overseas trips.
  • Allegedly wrecked a government car.
  • Earned moniker "candy man" for doling out prescription meds.
  • Created a toxic work environment.

Jackson called the allegations "completely false and fabricated" in announcing his decision to withdraw from consideration but cited the distractions they caused.

Jackson also is no longer the White House physician to President Donald Trump, having been replaced by Dr. Sean Conley, a Navy commander.
