Vice President Mike Pence has suggested the Democratic Party supports late-term abortion and "infanticide,” The Hill reported.
The eyebrow-raising comments were made during a speech Thursday alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa, The Hill – and echoed a claim by President Donald Trump last month in Wisconsin, where he said the Democratic Party was "aggressively pushing extreme late-term abortion, allowing children to be ripped from their mothers womb right up until the moment of birth."
In his remarks, Pence said he was bothered by the Democrats "in our country, and leaders around the country, supporting late-term abortion, even infanticide."
"But those are debates within the U.S., and I know that Canada will deal with those issues in a manner the people of Canada determine most appropriate," he continued. "For President Trump, for me, for our administration, we'll always stand for the right to life."
In 2015, 8% of all abortions occurred between 14-20 weeks' gestation; 1.3% occurred at over 21 weeks’ gestation, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
