House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., credited President Donald Trump for his decision to stop Obamacare subsidy payments to health insurers.
"Today's decision by the Trump administration to end the appeal of that ruling preserves a monumental affirmation of Congress' authority and the separation of powers," Ryan said in a statement, according to The Hill.
"Obamacare has proven itself to be a fatally flawed law, and the House will continue to work with the Trump administration to provide the American people a better system," Ryan said in the statement.
The White House said Thursday that Trump planned to stop paying the subsidies, according to CNN. The subsidy payments helped those with low incomes to pay for out-of-pocket medical costs.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. called ending the subsidies a "spiteful act of vast, pointless sabotage," according to CNN.
