A Democratic super PAC, armed with an $80 million to $90 million budget, is launching an organizing effort in seven swing states, Politico is reporting.
For Our Future, the nation’s largest super PAC devoted to grassroots Democratic turnout, announced it is hiring Ashley Walker, who had served as Florida campaign chair for former President Barack Obama.
The aim is to build a network of 4,000 paid staff and a legion of volunteers in Florida, Nevada, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Virginia. They hope to convince Democratic-leaning 2020 voters, people of color and so-called “sporadic voters” to back Democratic candidates.
On its website, the PAC called each of the states "a crucial battleground."
And Walker said: “Over the cycles, we’ve gotten smarter and better at what we do. For Our Future builds state-based capacity to effect change at the electoral and community level. And we run our organization with the same standards as a presidential campaign.”
The PAC, historically funded by labor unions and billionaire Tom Steyer, was started three years ago. The group is planning to contact Democratic primary voters later this year in advance of the primaries and caucuses.
