Some Oscar attendees will be wearing an orange anti-gun violence American flag pin on Sunday in wake of a mass shooting at a high school in Florida where a gunman killed 17 and injured at least 17, People reports.
The pins are sold by Everytown for Gun Safety, an organization funded by Michael Bloomberg which advocates for gun control and against gun violence. Since the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, thousands of young people have turned to the group to help make their voices heard.
As a result, the U.S. group pledged $2.5 million to support marches around the United States on March 24, the date of a planned March For Our Lives in Washington to demand an end to school shootings and an overhaul to gun laws to make schools safer.
"Students are making history and demanding that our elected officials protect them," John Feinblatt, Everytown's president, said in a statement.
The shooting reignited the national debate on gun reform, and many celebrities have come out in support of regulation including Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Amal Clooney, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone.
