Getting elected president would be a demotion for "queen of the universe" Oprah Winfrey, but if she runs, "she will destroy anybody in front of her," CNN's Van Jones said Monday night.

Jones made the comments on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."

"The question is, does she want to be demoted from queen of the universe to president of the United States? If she wants to do it, she can do it. She is probably the most beloved human being on earth," Jones told Cooper.

"If she runs, she will destroy anybody in front of her," Jones said.

The Oprah for president fervor was rekindled in a big way Sunday night after she gave an acceptance speech for an award that many inferred to be an unofficial launch to a run at the White House in 2020.

"There's basically bedlam in Oprah-land right now. People begging her, 'please run, please run, please run.' But she's given no indication that she's moved off her position that she doesn't want to do it," Jones said.

Jones said there's no getting in the gutter for any Oprah opponents; her life is an open book.

"She has uniquely positioned herself to take those blows and turn them into advantages for herself," Jones said.
