Romney Adviser Madden: Obama Wants to Tax Way Out of Deficit

By    |   Sunday, 21 October 2012 12:45 PM EDT

President Barack Obama wants to “tax his way out of” the $16 trillion federal deficit, Romney senior adviser Kevin Madden said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“The way you look at the federal deficit is, you can either grow your way out of it, you can tax your way out of it, or you can cut your way out of it,” Madden said. “President Obama has only said that he wants to tax his way out of it.”

Turning to the president’s latest jab at Romney — Romnesia — Madden said the term is juvenile and counterproductive.

“The very fact that the president of the United States has to utter a term like that just is a glaring example of how small the campaign has been,” he said. “The Obama campaign has not been one about the future. It hasn’t been about talking about what they would do over the next four years to really help rebuild the economy. Instead, they’ve reduced themselves to very small attacks.

“Gov. Romney has a plan for the future, whereas over the next four years, we don’t know what President Obama would do,” Madden added.
