There were several protests from players during the playing of the National Anthem during the NFL’s first Sunday of the regular season, which coincided with commemorations for the fifteenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Yahoo reports.

The demonstrations come in the aftermath of San Francisco 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s controversial protest in the preseason when he sat during the National Anthem to bring attention to racial injustice and police brutality.

Earlier this week, Kaepernick’s No. 7 jersey has become the NFL's top seller, CNN reported.

Yahoo listed the protests on Sunday as follows:

  • Marcus Peters of the Kansas City Chiefs raised his right fist during the anthem in an apparent Black Power salute.
  • Several players for the Tennessee Titans also raised their fists during the anthem
  • Several Miami Dolphins players knelt on the sideline before the game against the Seattle Seahawks, whose players locked arms in a unified protest.
  • At least two members of the New England Patriots held fists in the air after the National Anthem at their game against the Arizona Cardinals.
