Former President Barack Obama reacted to the deadly terror attack in New Zealand, which left dozens dead, by condemning all forms of hatred.
Obama expressed his thoughts on the incident via Twitter Friday morning.
"Michelle and I send our condolences to the people of New Zealand. We grieve with you and the Muslim community. All of us must stand against hatred in all its forms," Obama wrote.
One man has been charged with killing 49 people at two separate mosques in Christchurch. The attack occurred Friday afternoon local time, which was Thursday night on the east coast of the United States.
Two other armed suspects were also taken into custody, although their alleged roles in the attack are not yet clear. Police defused multiple explosive devices in a car as well.
Officials in New Zealand called the killings an act of terror.
President Donald Trump weighed in on the attack by calling it a "horrible massacre" in a tweet.
"My warmest sympathy and best wishes goes out to the people of New Zealand after the horrible massacre in the Mosques. 49 innocent people have so senselessly died, with so many more seriously injured. The U.S. stands by New Zealand for anything we can do," Trump wrote.
