Special counsel Robert Mueller has not made a request to interview Vice President Mike Pence, NBC News reports.
President Donald Trump's legal team has begun discussing an interview with Mueller, although the special counsel has not officially requested one either, and Trump said Wednesday that it "seems unlikely" that he'll give an interview.
Pence, who played a major part in the campaign and transition into the White House, will cooperate if Mueller does request an interview, an unnamed person "familiar with the matter" told NBC News.
Another source said that Mueller has not shown any interest in interviewing Pence.
"We're fully cooperating with the special counsel and we'll continue to. But I've got to tell you, it's just not been a focus of mine," Pence said in December on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle."
He added that the Trump administration isn't focused on the investigation, and that they will "let the special counsel do their job and continue to cooperate, but we're going continue to focus on our job, and I think that's exactly what the American people want us to do."
