"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski Friday claimed Hillary Clinton's campaign wanted her taken "off the air" for expressing her doubts that the Democratic presidential nominee had the 2016 election sewn up.
"I'll just say it — NBC got a call from the campaign," Brzezinski said during the morning news program. "Like I had done something that was journalistically inappropriate or something and needed to be pulled off the air.”
Her comments came during a panel discussion centered around Clinton's outcry about the harm being caused through the spread of "fake news."
During the election season, Brzezinski often said on the program that Clinton's election was not a sure thing, and on Friday, she said she made her comments because "I was concerned the campaign was not understanding that perhaps there was an arrogance. They needed to sort of get off their high horse and understand that this isn't over.”
And by making the call, Brzezinski continued, the Clinton campaign was "just shooting the wrong messenger."
Over the summer, some of the emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee showed then-chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, along with other officials, had issues with how Brzezinski and NBC's Chuck Todd were covering about how she, as party chair, was directing the election, reports Mediaite.
