Minnesota Lt. Gov. Tina Smith will reportedly replace Sen. Al Franken should he resign in the wake of sexual misconduct charges.
Gov. Mark Dayton is ready to tap Smith for the position, a "high-ranking Democratic source," told The Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Franken, a Democrat, will reveal Thursday whether he will step down or remain on Capitol Hill, some 24 hours after more than 30 Democratic senators, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for his resignation.
Franken faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
In November, radio host, Leeann Tweeden said he kissed and groped her without her consent during a 2006 USO tour. After she made her accusation, more women came forward to say Franken had groped them.
