Pompeo: Clinton Used 'Sophisticated Technique' to Guard Email Access

Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kans., claims Hillary Clinton "used a sophisticated technique" to prevent public access to emails on her private server.

A federal judge ruled Thursday that the State Department must release the roughly 14,900 additional emails recently uncovered by the FBI. Pompeo, appearing on MSNBC, said Clinton apparently took steps to shield her electronic communications from disclosure.

"Secretary Clinton set up a situation to avoid this situation where the public demanded access," said the congressman, who is a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. "We now know having the chance to read what the FBI provided to members of Congress, to read in the classified setting, not just deleted them; she used a sophisticated technique to make sure that no one ever had access to these."

Pompeo, who is also a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, says that although that panel hasn't seen any of the recently uncovered emails, "we have had access to the classified information that was on secretary Clinton's server, information she denied was there and she sent, she just lied about that."

"There was classified information," Pompeo said. "In that information, we saw, we saw exactly the same kind of special favoritism in those e-mails as well."

Pompeo's fellow Republican, Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, has noted that Clinton used a special program to erase her emails.

"They didn't just push the delete button. They had them deleted where even God can't read them," he said Thursday on Fox News. Gowdy claims her team used BleachBit, which permanently scrubs data from a computer's hard drive.

"You don't use BleachBit for yoga emails, or for bridesmaids emails," Gowdy said. "When you're using BleachBit, it is something you really do not want the world to see."
