Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Thursday she doesn't know if Corey Lewandowski will run for the Senate in New Hampshire, but if he does, he could "absolutely" win against two-term Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.

"Obviously, Corey is a star," McDaniel told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" about President Donald Trump's first campaign manager. "He's going to do really well if he debates any Democrat or Shaheen. So, we'll see what he decides."

Lewandowski will attend a rally with Trump in New Hampshire on Thursday as speculation about his potential Senate bid grows. He did not rule out the possibility of an impending announcement.

"Sometimes the president is unpredictable," he told The Hill. "Having had the opportunity to serve next to him in several capacities, I'll be prepared for any comments he makes."

McDaniel's optimism about Lewandowski differs from the opinions among New Hampshire Republicans, reports Politico, as Gov. Chris Sununu has voiced concerns to party leadership and former Sen. Judd Gregg told New Hampshire's largest paper, The Union-Leader, that Lewandowski is a "thug."

Dave Carney, a longtime New Hampshire-based strategist also called Lewandowski a "political hack" who adds nothing to the ticket and does not help Trump.

Meanwhile, McDaniel said she's got a great deal of confidence for Trump against any of the Democrats seeking the nomination to run against him.

"I'm not concerned about any of them," said McDaniel. "They are socialists. They are saying that the government is the answer to everything. President Trump gets to run on record low unemployment numbers. He has pushed our economy into full gear, and he is doing things that are making life better for the American people. All Democrats can offer is more government."
