Lori Alhadeff, whose 14-year-old daughter Alyssa was among the 17 people shot and killed at a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida has won election to the county school board.
The Miami Herald reported Alhadeff, a former teacher, won about 65 percent of the vote over two other candidates in the race for the Broward County School Board.
The school district is the sixth largest in the nation and the second largest in Florida.
“I am so excited. I am elated,” Alhadeff said. “I can’t wait to start making change and start making an impact on the school board.”
