Sen. Lindsey Graham Saturday slammed Russia amid the furor over a secret CIA report that Moscow interfered in the 2016 election to sway the contest in President-elect Donald Trump's favor.
Graham, a South Carolina Republican, unleashed a rant on Twitter:
The Washington Post reported Friday that a secret CIA assessment had concluded that Russia meddled not only to undermine confidence in the elections process but to influence the outcome toward Trump.
Sean Spicer, a Trump adviser who also is communications director for the Republican National Committee, ripped the CIA report, demanding proof of Russia's role in the election.
"What proof does anyone have that they affected the outcome?" Spicer asked CNN host Michael Smerconish. "Zero.
"Show me what facts have actually shown that anything undermined that election," he demanded. "Donald Trump won 306 electoral votes, 62 million Americans voted for him.
"So what proof do you have or anyone has that any of this affected the outcome of the election?"
The New York Times reported Saturday that Moscow had also hacked into the RNC's computers but withheld the data it seized.
Spicer also strongly denied that report.
Graham said Wednesday that he was heading several investigations into Russia's role in the election, saying that he wanted President Vladimir Putin "personally to pay a price."
