Kid Rock Not Running for Senator

Kid Rock Not Running for Senator

By    |   Tuesday, 24 October 2017 11:42 AM EDT

Kid Rock on Tuesday emphatically put to bed months of rumors that swirled about a potential run for U.S. Senate, dropping an F-bomb on the Howard Stern Show that no, he's not running.

"(Profanity) no, I'm not running for Senate," the rocker, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, said on Stern's SiriusXM morning show.

"Who couldn’t figure that out? I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour too. Are you (bleeping) (bleeping) me?" Kid Rock said.

Kid Rock's new album coming out Nov. 3 is titled "Sweet Southern Sugar," he announced on Stern.

Legendary rocker Ted Nugent told Newsmax TV more than 2 months ago that "Kid Rock ain't running for squat," blasting some "goofball" in the Michigan GOP for starting the rumor.

"My friend Bob Ritchie never thought, never hinted, never mentioned, never gave any consideration whatsoever to running for public office," Nugent told Newsmax TV in August. "Some goofball in the Michigan GOP just pulled it out of their ass and said, 'What about Kid Rock?'"

Kid Rock told Stern the months-long charade he carried out - that he might challenge Michigan Democratic incumbent Sen. Debbie Stabenow - was "the most creative thing I’ve ever done."
