Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel on Monday said she doubts musician Bob Ritchie — aka Kid Rock — will run for Senate.
McDaniel said on WMAL Radio that "I don't see" Ritchie taking on Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in Michigan's midterms in 2018.
"I don't see him running for Senate," McDaniel told WMAL's "Mornings on the Mall" hosts. "I think I'd be one of the people he'd reach out to, he hasn't done that. I like that he's talking about it."
McDaniel said she went to Kid Rock's concert in Detroit last Friday where he gave "a big speech about running for Senate."
"He's very popular in Michigan. … I think it'd be fascinating. He'd be an interesting candidate, but I'm neutral as party chair. That's my job," McDaniel said.
It's a position shared by legendary rocker Ted Nugent, who last month told Newsmax TV that "Kid Rock ain't running for squat."
"My friend Bob Ritchie never thought, never hinted, never mentioned, never gave any consideration whatsoever to running for public office," Nugent told Newsmax TV. "Some goofball in the Michigan GOP just pulled it out of their ass and said, 'What about Kid Rock?'"
