Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., said the Supreme Court's decision to uphold President Donald Trump's travel ban on those from five Muslim-majority countries goes against core American values, The Hill is reporting.
Ellison is one of only two sitting Muslim members of Congress, The Hill noted. He is also deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee.
"Today's decision undermines the core value of religious tolerance on which America was founded," he said. "I am deeply disappointed that this ruling gives legitimacy to discrimination and Islamophobia."
His comments came after the Supreme Court on Tuesday reached a 5-4 decision upholding Trump's ban.
