Karen Pence opened a Twitter account over the weekend to tout the Trump administration's accomplishments heading into the 2020 election and to explain "why we need to keep America great."
"I'm looking forward to being on the campaign trail, to help tell the story of what President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are accomplishing in the Trump administration," Pence, 62, who married the vice president in 1985, said in a Saturday post.
"Today, we have more jobs, more growth and a stronger and safer America — and now is not the time to stop the momentum," she continued. "We are just getting started.
"So, follow along," Pence invited, "and find out why we need to keep America great."
But reaction was generally negative to her tweet, though some posters praised her foray into social media as others bitterly ripped the Pences, their Christian faith — along with President Trump and his policies.
"God bless the Pence family!" a poster named Big Foot tweeted, later advising: "Hang tight, Mrs. Pence, and let your courage in these adverse moments be an inspiration to everyone."
"Welcome Mother!" Amy Lemus tweeted, including video of two gay men kissing.
Liberal author Molly Jong-Fast said: "Imagine thinking you were a normal second lady when you support and enable the most criminal administration ever."
Best Friends called the Pences "true Christians that live their faith and are patriots to our great country!
