Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro gave every indication he will make a run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, but stopped just short of announcing his candidacy.
Castro’s comments came during interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Thursday.
Castro said that he’s “very likely, likely whatever terms you want to use” running for the nomination.
“The season is almost upon us,” he said. “It's no secret, people see out there that you will probably have a whole bunch of folks who are running in 2020."
"The voters are going to want to see a whole bunch of folks up there with new ideas, different experiences and feel like everybody's voice was heard. Afterward, the Democratic nominee in 2020 is going to be stronger because of that."
Castro said he will make a decision by the end of the year.
“If I run, it will be because I have a strong vision for the future of this country,” he said.
Castro has said previously he needs to have a long talk with his wife before deciding whether to enter the race.
