Vice President Joe Biden did his best to persuade a young woman she should sign up for Obamacare last week. His only problem: She's not American.
Biden was in Scottsdale, Ariz., talking up the Affordable Care Act outside a pancake house when he suddenly turned to a young woman sitting on a bench outside the restaurant. With TV cameras following him, he sat down close to the woman, took her by the wrist, and implored of her:
"Everybody young signs up for healthcare. It's affordable. You can get subsidies to do it, and it's in your interest. And if you don't even want to do it for yourself, do it for your parents. Give them piece of mind."
The woman, identified only as Jackie, smiled and nodded during the encounter, but afterward, when KTVK-TV asked the woman about Biden's advice she said she doesn't qualify – she's a visitor from Canada.
"I just didn't know if I should say, 'I'm sorry, [I'm] Canadian, don’t know if I can help you out,' she said.
Canada already has universal healthcare, which Jackie said she favors.
"He’s for it and I’m for it and I hope it works out here."
