Former special counsel Robert Mueller did not answer several important questions during his congressional testimony, and that underscores why it's important that the Department of Justice continues to investigate the origins of the Russian interference probe, Rep. Jim Jordan said Thursday.
"In 2016, as I said yesterday, the FBI did something they hadn't done before, spied on two American citizens with a presidential campaign," the Ohio Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom."
"Two Americans were spied on by our government and as it turns out, this whole conspiracy theory was completely false. That's why it's important to get to the bottom of this and that's exactly what Bill Barr, the attorney general, is doing."
Democrats, though, will continue with their push for impeachment, Jordan said, as "they'll never stop going after the Trump administration. We all know it will happen."
Mueller also testified he was not familiar with Fusion GPS, the firm behind the disputed Christopher Steele dossier, but Jordan said he does not know if Mueller was confused by the question or just didn't hear it, as it would be "hard to believe" he never heard of the company.
"I don't know if the special counsel even interviewed the guy who was again at the heart of all this ... "If they can do this to a president of the United States, if they can go spy on two people, two Americans associated with his campaign ... imagine what they can do to you and" me, he said. "For Bob Mueller not looking at that or not answer questions about it is a big concern."
