Rep. Jordan: IG Report Likely Holds Comey, McCabe Responsible

(Fox News' "America's Newsroom")

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, on Monday said he expects Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report into whether the FBI abused the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act will hold former FBI leaders James Comey and Andrew McCabe accountable.

Because of an earlier report from Horowitz, Jordan told Fox News' "America's Newsroom," it is known the FBI put Peter Strzok, who was against Trump's election, in charge of the investigation and that Comey had leaked memos to The New York Times to get a special counsel to investigate Trump's election and Russia.

"The January 2017 Trump Tower meeting, they went up there trying to set up the president, trying to trap him, all while telling him that he wasn't under investigation," Jordan said. "I look forward to his next report, which we should get in a matter of weeks."

Jordan added he agrees with statements made by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., the FBI leaders will be held accountable, and he has the "utmost confidence" in Attorney General William Barr to be transparent when Horowitz's report is released.

Meanwhile, Jordan said he believes it will be "a while" before U.S. Attorney John Durham, who Barr appointed in May to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, finishes his investigation.

Also on Monday, Jordan commented on Democrats' ongoing push for an impeachment inquiry, accusing members of Congress of wanting to change the rules to make it easier for them to go after Trump.

"They are bound and determined to go after this president, which everyone knows is not warranted," Jordan said. "They also voted to take away people's gun rights. That is how radical the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are. They're going to move ahead."
