Jordan: Dems' Questions to Hope Hicks a 'Political Stunt'

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee brought in former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks for testimony as a "political stunt," even though they knew she wouldn't answer many of their questions because of the executive privilege she would have as a top adviser, Rep. Jim Jordan said Friday.

"If the president was falsely accused, do you investigate how the false accusation happened or you continue to investigate something Bob Mueller spent 22 months on and come back and said no collusion, no coordination, no conspiracy, do you continue to investigate that?" the Ohio Republican said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "Obviously the Democrats have chosen the latter and that's why they bring Hope Hicks in."

However, Jordan said he didn't hear all of the testimony, as he had two other hearings on Thursday, so he could not answer to reports that Hicks was asked about her love life, or that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler repeatedly referred to her as "Ms. Lewandowski." However, he said he did hear Nadler ask "a lot of questions about Corey Lewandowski," President Donald Trump's former campaign manager who at one time had been romantically linked with Hicks.

Meanwhile, Jordan called such proceedings "impeachment" proceedings, because Democrats "don't have the guts to vote on" the actual hearings.

"They're going to do what they're going to do, the American people understand it," said Jordan. "They understand that there is no basis for it, but they're going to continue to go down this road and it's unfortunate."
