Himes: Nunes, Goodlatte 'Desperate' to Revisit Clinton Emails

Reps. Devin Nunes and Bob Goodlatte are "desperate" to get back to the subject of Hillary Clinton's emails through questioning former FBI Director James Comey and ex-Attorney General Loretta Lynch, but the truth will not be their friend, Rep. Jim Himes said Friday.

"I welcome the testimony of Jim Comey and the former attorney general," the Connecticut Democrat told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "Every time these individuals have the opportunity to speak in public, the truth comes out."

On Thanksgiving, Comey announced through Twitter that he'd gotten a subpoena to testify about Clinton's emails. Republicans have said the call is about decisions that were made and not made about pursuing President Donald Trump's alleged ties to Russia but not about Clinton's email server, Fox News reported, but Himes said that is "absolutely not true."

"The FBI investigated Hillary Clinton's use of that server, as you know," Himes said. "Jim Comey during the presidential campaign announced the existence of that investigation to the public."

In addition, Republicans already have questioned Clinton for nine hours of open testimony, said Himes.

"This has been aired six times until Sunday," said Himes. "Bring it on...the more people are testifying in public about the fact, the more it will be apparent that all these allegations are completely made up."

He also mentioned the news that Trump's daughter, Ivanka, was discovered to have used a private email server for official duties, and denied the White House's claims that her situation is different.

"I'm not justifying Hillary Clinton's use of a private server," said Himes. "I think it was wrong just as it was wrong for the president's daughter to do it...the fact is you had senior government officials going against protocol."
