Jessie Liu, the former U.S. attorney, whose nomination for a top job in the Treasury Department was pulled, has resigned.
As U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, she reportedly oversaw several cases related to President Donald Trump and the Russia investigation, including those pertaining to Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort.
According to CNN, Liu submitted her resignation to the Treasury Department, effective Wednesday evening. She had gone to work at Treasury in anticipation of being confirmed as the undersecretary for terrorism and financial crimes.
But that came to an end when Trump pulled her nomination.
Attorney General Bill Barr had pushed for the president to stick by Liu's nomination in recent weeks, according to CNN. The Justice Department was surprised to learn that the president had pulled her nomination.
