Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have split after 2½ years of marriage reportedly because she wanted to live in Los Angeles and he wanted to live in New York City, "Entertainment Tonight" reported.
The celebrity news show said the acting couple called it quits Thursday with living arrangements a major factor of their disagreement, one source said.
"He much prefers being (in New York) and that's been a major issue for them for a long time," the source told "Entertainment Tonight." "Justin has a very diverse friend group, and he likes that they're not all 'in the industry.' He's friends with people in the restaurant world, writers, comedians, artists, tattoo artists. It's an eclectic group and he doesn't have that type of network in L.A."
Emmy Award-winning Aniston, whose career is arguably more established than Theroux's as a former star of "Friends" with a critically acclaimed movie role in "Cake," had a more difficult time in New York City, another source told "Entertainment Tonight."
"Justin can hop on his (motorcycle), walk in the neighborhood, hang at a bar and all that without being bothered, but for Jen, the paparazzi are all over her," the source noted, per "Entertainment Tonight."
"He really wanted her to be comfortable (in New York). He even negotiated with the paps to make a deal that they would only shoot her once per day and then leave her alone. He also agreed to move out of his apartment, which he loves," the source added.
Aniston remains one of the best compensated actresses in Hollywood, with Forbes listing her earnings at $16.5 million in 2015, $21 million in 2016 and $25.5 million in 2017, People magazine noted.
Theroux starred in the HBO series "The Leftovers" from 2014 to 2017, where he earned $75,000 per episode, per TV Guide.
He wrote and starred in "Zoolander 2," and appeared in "The Girl on the Train," and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," People reported. He also did voice work for "The Lego Ninjago Movie," the magazine reported.
