Jeffrey Tricoli, a senior FBI official who had led the oversight of a government task force that looked into Russian interference in U.S. elections, has left the agency, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Tricoli reportedly left in June for a senior vice president job with Charles Schwab Corp., the report said.
The reason for Tricoli’s exit was not made clear, but it raises questions among some tech companies and lawmakers about what the administration and the task force are doing to protect elections from Russian meddling, The Journal reported.
FBI Director Christopher Wray convened that task force in 2017. "I take any effort to interfere with our election system by Russia or any other nation state or any non nation-state extremely seriously because it strikes right at the heart of who we are as a country," Wray said when convening the task force, The Hill reported in November 2017.
