Rep. Darrell Issa ripped President Barack Obama as a leader who “puts together an enemies list,” referring to reports of collaboration between the Justice Department and a liberal watchdog group,
Politico reported.
The California Republican, who chairs the House Oversight Committee and led the “Fast and Furious” hearings, said on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends” show, “Not since Richard Nixon have we seen a president who puts together an enemies list and has a whole team pursuing it. That’s what’s happened in this administration. It’s sad. It’s not the America I want to see going forward. I sincerely hope that after the election, regardless, the American people will have made a statement that they won’t tolerate this.”
E-mails obtained in a Freedom of Information request by The Daily Caller show coordination between Justice Department public affairs chief Tracy Schmaler and Media Matters bloggers.
“I think the important point is, these people represent the culture that President Obama brought into Washington, a culture of division, a culture that embraces the concept of, the 1 percent is evil and somehow the rest of America just needs to . . . punish the 1 percent,” Issa said on the show, according to Politico. “I guess I’m part of the 1 percent for purposes of their attack. So are you.”
