Malcolm Hoenlein: Iran's Missiles Meant for US, Not Israel

The ballistic missile tests carried out by Iran last week should alarm Americans because they are really meant to attack the United States and not Israel, says Malcolm Hoenlein of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations.

"These are missiles that are capable of carrying nuclear warheads," Hoenlein said Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York. "And the target is not Israel. The target is the United States – because they [Iran] don't need a ballistic missile to hit Israel."

The two ballistic missiles had the phrase "Israel must be wiped out" written on them in Hebrew and Farsi.

But, Hoenlein said, Iran's goal "is to destroy America, and we'd better believe it."

He pointed to Iran's humiliation of American sailors, their claims to control Arab capitals and their goal of controlling the whole region and threat to go after the United States.

"And they're seeking the means to do it," Hoenlein told host John Catsimatidis, adding that they will use the unfrozen assets from the nuclear deal to do it.
