Hillary Clinton said this week she wants to tell the American public if any alien secrets are hiding at Area 51, a top-secret Air Force base in Nevada.
Clinton made the remarks during an appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live.
"I would like us to go into those files and hopefully make as much of that public as possible," Clinton said. "If there's nothing there, let's tell people there's nothing there."
Kimmel, who once asked former President Bill Clinton about UFOs and aliens, followed up by asking Hillary Clinton — the leading Democrat candidate for president — what she would do if she discovered sensitive information.
"Well, if there is something there, unless it's a threat to national security, I think we ought to share it with the public," she said.
In January,
Clinton vowed to "get to the bottom" of Area 51 and rumors of UFOs and aliens. Her campaign manager John Podesta apparently has put her up to doing so.
"He has made me personally pledge we are going to get the information out," Clinton said. "One way or another. Maybe we could have, like, a task force to go to Area 51."
Two years ago,
Bill Clinton told Kimmel he had his staff look through the files at Area 51 to see if aliens really visited Earth.
"If you saw that there were aliens there would you tell us?" Kimmel asked.
"Yeah. I would," Clinton assured him.
