Chelsea Clinton recently said in a recent video that Obamacare has created "crushing costs for too many people."
Clinton — the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton — said her mother would be open to doing something about the Affordable Care Act's costs through executive actions if she becomes president.
The video appears to be taken at an event and the camera is focused on the crowd, not Clinton. Her voice is clearly audible, however.
"This was part of my mom's original plan back in '93 and '94, as well as premium costs. We can either do that directly or through tax credits," Clinton said, referring to putting a maximum on how much money Obamacare customers spend out of pocket. "And, figuring out whether she could do that through executive action, or she would need to do that through tax credits working with Congress.
"She thinks either of those will help solve the challenge of the crushing costs that still exist for too many people who even are part of the Affordable Care Act and buying insurance."
Clinton has been critical of Obamacare and the costs it has placed on middle-class Americans. At a town hall last week,
Clinton told a woman in the audience she would "get the costs down" after the woman said her family of four now pays $1,081 a month for healthcare, up from $490.
In December, Clinton said
Obamacare is pushing people into part-time jobs because employers can't afford the high costs that come with providing healthcare.
