Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, currently head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, plans to seek to lead the chamber's Finance Committee when the next Congress convenes in January, he said in a statement on Friday.

His move would clear the way for Sen. Lindsey Graham, a GOP colleague, to take over the Judiciary gavel.  Graham has publicly stated his interest in that job if it opened up.
