Katharine Gorka, a political appointee at the Department of Homeland Security who has stirred controversy for her views on terrorism and domestic extremism, is reportedly President Donald Trump's pick for press secretary at Customs and Border Protection.
Acting CBP Commissioner John Sanders told CNN on Tuesday that Gorka is expected to take the position and advocated for her to join the agency.
Gorka is married to Sebastian Gorka, the former deputy assistant to Trump, who was an outspoken defender of his national security agenda.
Katharine Gorka’s controversial stances have included her elimination of DHS funding for a group combating white nationalism, and her description of anti-fascists as the “actual threats right now,” according to Talking Points Memo.
