Gates Grouses at Turkey's Rejection of Iran Sanctions

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is chafing at Turkey’s refusal to support U.N. sanctions against Iran, although he said the ties remain strong between the United States and Turkey, according to The New York Times.

“I’ll be honest, I was disappointed in Turkey’s vote on the Iranian sanctions,” Gates said Friday after a meeting of defense ministers of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels, the Times reported.

“Allies don’t always agree on things, but we move forward from here,” he said.

President Obama has welcomed the U.N. Security Council’s sanctions, revealed Wednesday, seeking to halt Iran’s production of nuclear fuel as the toughest yet in trying to halt Iran’s production of nuclear fuel.
