Evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham announced Thursday he will open the Democratic National Convention next week with a mass prayer on his Facebook page.

"I'd like to invite you to join me on Facebook on Monday, [July 25], at 2 p.m. ET as we open the Democratic National Convention with prayer," Graham said in a video posted to his page. "I just believe that if people pray, maybe God will touch the hearts of our politicians and they'll listen to him. We need our politicians to listen to God.

"I believe in prayer, I believe in the power of prayer, and I'd just like to ask you to join me."

Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham, did the same ahead of the Republican National Convention this week.

"One thing's for sure — our politicians and this country need our prayers," Graham wrote on Facebook. "Prayer can make a difference, so please join me on Monday — and share this with others who will pray!"

Graham is not endorsing any candidate in the current presidential election, instead asking Americans to pray because "this nation is in serious trouble."

Last weekend, Graham criticized a decision by a billboard company in Cleveland to allow an atheist group to erect a billboard near the convention site, while at the same time not allowing an ad for the movie "God's Not Dead 2" because it was too "incendiary."
