Law enforcement in Florida on Sunday arrested a Putnam County man who they said planned to "start a war" and an "active shooter" situation.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested Glen Ressler, 42, of Interlachen, on Sunday after he made threats toward law enforcement. Authorities said that Ressler was angry after deputies seized his driver's license, which had been suspended, during a traffic stop.
WFLA reports that officers went to Ressler's house in order to conduct a wellness check once they heard of the threats. Deputies say that Ressler approached them carrying multiple firearms while wearing a tactical vest. The deputies used "dialog, exceptional skill and tactical planning" to disarm Ressler, who was then taken into custody.
"The men and women of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the concerned citizen who alerted us to this situation and to commend our deputies on a job well done," the sheriff's office said in a statement, according to CBS affiliate Action News Jax. "The actions of the citizen, our exceptional Emergency Communications Officers and our brave Deputy Sheriffs from Delta Shift/West District undoubtedly prevented Ressler from carrying out his deadly intentions."
