Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., got slapped Monday by fact-checking website Politifact for misleading people on what Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh said about abortion at his confirmation hearings.
Harris tweeted an 11-second clip Friday that suggested Kavanaugh was referring to birth control as "abortion-inducing."
Politifact determined, however, Harris took Kavanaugh's statement out of context by cutting the attribution for his statement.
His full quote was: "They said filling out the form would make them complicit in the provision of the abortion-inducing drugs that they were, as a religious matter, objecting to."
Harris' tweet left out the "they said," which refers to a Catholic group, Priests for Life.
Since Harris' tweet depicts Kavanaugh's comments about the position of Priests for Life as if it were his own, Politifact declared her tweet as "false."
Harris followed up her initial tweet with one that included a two-minute clip with the full question and answer.
