James O'Keefe of Project Veritas says a former Facebook employee has proof the social media giant's practices for limiting harassment and hate speech is designed to censor conservative accounts.
"It's clear that Facebook is targeting the language of the right," O’Keefe says in a video published to his site Wednesday.
Facebook said the Project Veritas report does not correctly portray its policies.
"We fired this person a year ago for breaking multiple employment policies and using her contractor role at Facebook to perform a stunt for Project Veritas," a spokesperson told The Verge. "Unsurprisingly, the claims she is making validate her agenda and ignore the processes we have in place to ensure Facebook remains a platform to give people a voice, regardless of their political ideology."
The former Facebook employee, who now works for Project Veritas, said the site discriminated against conservatives through software manipulation using special features to "deboost" traffic.
Social media sites including Facebook and Twitter in 2018 faced mounting criticism from conservatives amid a content crackdown and President Donald Trump has accused Facebook, Twitter, Google of being biased and fake.
