X, formerly Twitter, owner Elon Musk said he "may" endorse a presidential candidate in the final leg of the 2024 election but does not anticipate giving money to either President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump.
"I may, in the final stretch, endorse a candidate, but I don't know yet," Musk told Don Lemon on Monday. "I want to make a considered decision before the election, and if I do decide to endorse a candidate, then I will explain exactly why."
Moments earlier in the conversation, Lemon stated that Musk met with Trump.
"What did you guys talk about," he asked.
Musk, pausing for a moment, clarified that he was visiting a friend for breakfast, and Trump "came by."
"So, you didn't go there to meet him?" Lemon asked.
We were at breakfast, and Trump "came by," Musk added.
"What did you discuss," Lemon pressed.
"Let's just say he did most of the talking." The SpaceX owner went on to say that Trump talked about the "normal" things he usually talks about and that he did not ask him for money.
So far in the election race, three major candidates have emerged: Trump, Biden, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Both Kennedy and Trump are expected to announce their running mates later this spring.
During the interview, while Musk refrained from endorsing any one of the candidates he did qualify, while laughing, he was "leaning away from Biden" — a point he says he's been fairly open about.
